Aetna (NYSE: AET) and Einstein Healthcare Network announced that they have reached agreement on a four-year contract renewal, maintaining network access for Aetna members in Southeastern Pennsylvania. With this agreement, members of Aetna commercial and Medicare plans can receive covered benefits, at in-network rates, from Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia; Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park; Montgomery Hospital and Medical Center; and MossRehab.
The contract also includes 500 physicians employed by the Einstein Healthcare Network and the Fomance Physician Group. “Aetna is very pleased to extend its long-term relationship with Einstein Healthcare Network,” said Robert Kleman, Aetna’s vice president of network operations for Southeastern Pennsylvania. “We were able to come to terms on a new agreement that is fair to both sides, preserving access for our members without disruption.” Aetna provides health benefits to more than 1 million members in Pennsylvania. In Southeastern Pennsylvania, members have access to a network that includes 89 hospitals and more than 15,000 primary care and specialist physicians.

Sanitas, Bupa’s Spanish business, has signed an agreement with the Madrid regional government to manage the 250-bed Torrejón Hospital.
