International Assistance Group Core Partner AA International Evacuates Shotgun Wounded Tourist

AA International, Core Partner of the worldwide network of assistance companies, International Assistance Group, received a request from a German Assistance company requesting to organise a medical evacuation of an injured German National from Jayapura, Papua to Singapore. AA International immediately organised the appropriate team and its own air ambulance, a Learjet 35A, for the mission.

AA International departed with an ICU medical team from Singapore. Due to crew duty and airport closure time, the team had an overnight stop in Manado (Indonesia). Next morning, at 5.30 am local time, the team departed from Manado to Jayapura to evacuate the patient to Singapore. The patient’s condition remained stable and he was admitted to Mt Elizabeth hospital, one of the renowned medical centres in Singapore. AA International arranged the payment guarantee directly to the hospital.

A German citizen who was the victim of a shooting incident at BASE G beach, Jayapura, on Tuesday, May 29, will soon be evacuated to Singapore. According to the chief of Papua Health Office, Joseph Rinta, the 55-year-old victim will be sent to Singapore as soon as possible after the health office receives further confirmation from the German embassy in Jakarta and the insurance company.

"There has been discussion between the team of doctors, insurers and the German embassy on the evacuation plans since Wednesday (May 30)," said Rinta here on Thursday. While awaiting the evacuation process, the patient is receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit of Jayapura`s General Hospital. Although the patient is now in a stable condition, he still complains of pain from his gunshot wound, Rinta noted, so the doctors have prescribed him sedatives. He will be evacuated immediately to Singapore using a special chartered airplane. "I hope his condition continues to improve, so that he can be evacuated," remarked Rinta, who added that the victim had to undergo a surgery to stop bleeding from the gunshot wound. An unknown gunman shot the victim while he was spending time with his wife, at Base G beach in Jayapura.”
