The potential impact of Brexit, 'passporting into the EU post-Brexit', and IPT – the Chair of the Association of Medical Insurers and Intermediaries (AMII) has revealed his key opening themes for AMII's Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Conference.
AMII Executive Chairman Stuart Scullion will use his opening speech at the AGM entitled 'Creating Certainty in an Uncertain World' to address all three hot industry topics at the event, on Thursday 2 May in Milton Keynes, which has opened for registration.
Stuart Scullion said: "While Brexit will, of course, be on the agenda, IPT will be a key part of my opening address at the forthcoming AGM in light of the Chancellor's comments in his Spring Statement of his and HM Treasury's intention to review the impact and fairness of IPT.
"While this is very welcome and encouraging news, I will be using my speech to inform and reassure our members that AMII will continue to pursue our objective to get IPT on healthcare-spend zero rated."
AMII is the leading trade association for intermediaries, insurers and providers of services working in the health and wellbeing sector.
The AGM is a free event for AMII member firms to attend, featuring presentations from key health insurance industry figures – to be announced over the coming weeks – on topics including the current healthcare insurance market; opportunities for business growth; preparing for the next wave of intermediary regulation; Brexit and international PMI; and opportunities for intermediaries in workplace health screening.
The event will also be an opportunity to update AMII members on recent activities and the year ahead for the Association, which is a not-for-profit body representing approximately 140 members across the health and wellbeing market.
Stuart added: "Our industry not only has the potential impact of Brexit but, following GDPR last year, this year we need to be prepared for the latest regulation – The Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR) which replaces the Approved Persons Regime in December and will change how people working in financial services are regulated.
"Add to that our IPT mission and there will certainly be plenty on the agenda to update and inform our members at our AGM."
Delegate registration is now open for the AGM at Hilton Conference Centre, Stadium:MK in Milton Keynes. Doors open from 9.45am for registration and networking, with the meeting commencing at 10.30am and finishing at approximately 3pm.
