New International Structure At Crawford & Company®

Crawford & Company, has revealed its new international management structure, with a fully aligned ‘G6’ executive team and shared services leadership in place.

Crawford International’s new management structure is as follows: G6—Andrew Bart, CEO, Asia Pacific; John Jenner, commercial director, International; Clive Nicholls, CEO, UK & Ireland; Stephen Pearsall, finance director, International; Kieran Rigby, CEO, Europe & Latin America; and Pat Van Bakel, CEO, Canada. International Shared Services—Benedict Burke, chief client officer, International; Phil Churchman, chief information officer, International; Pauline Holroyd, vice president of human resources, International; Mike Jones, chief operating officer, UK & Ireland; and Chris Pinney, general counsel, International.

The G6 team reports to Ian Muress, executive vice president and chief executive officer (CEO), International, and comprises regional and country CEOs from the organisation’s largest collective operations around the world. Aligned with the G6 team are five heads of the international operation’s shared services functions in client management, general counsel, technology, human resources and commercial operations.

Bupa Chief Legal Officer Announces Plan To Retire

Bupa announced the intention of Chief Legal Officer Paul Newton to retire at the end of the year, after 29 years of service. 

Paul joined Bupa as a legal adviser in 1987. He became Bupa’s General Counsel in 2005 and joined the Bupa Executive Team in 2013.  

Stuart Fletcher CEO Bupa paid tribute to Paul’s contribution and commitment to the organisation.  

"Whilst I'm personally very sorry to be losing Paul from the company and the Bupa Executive Team I fully understand and respect his decision to retire following 29 years of outstanding service. 

"Paul has built our Legal function into an externally recognised world-class team. I value his counsel, experience and contribution immensely.  He has been a true champion of Bupa’s values and purpose and has played a key role in the development of many long-term careers at Bupa. His deep commitment to growing others has enabled us to set a standard for leadership across the global Legal function that few organisations can match.   The appointment of Penny as Paul's successor is evidence of the effective talent management framework we have established."

Penny Dudley, currently Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs, Bupa Global Market Unit, will succeed Paul and be appointed Chief Legal Officer from 1 April 2016.  She will also join the Executive Team from the same date.  

Penny joined Bupa in 2010 as a Head of Legal for Bupa's international health insurance business and has held a number of roles within the organisation before being appointed Legal Director for Bupa Global in May 2013.  

Paul will remain a member of the Bupa Executive Team ahead of his retirement and will work closely with Penny during the transition period, acting as Bupa’s General Counsel and leading a number of specific significant business projects.

Generali Global Health Boosts Senior Team With New Hires

Leading international private medical insurer, Generali Global Health (GGH) announces three appointments in a boost to the company’s senior team. Jamie Marshall joins as Chief Technical Officer, Paul Tidy as Chief Operating Officer and Paul Winstanley as Head of Business Development.

Jamie Marshall takes on responsibility for underwriting, pricing and portfolio governance and joins from Mercer Marsh Benefits where he was a Principal and Head of Actuarial in the Accident & Health practice. Jamie has a wealth of experience, including 13 years of pricing and modelling within the healthcare benefits sector. Before Mercer, Jamie held actuarial roles with Unum, RoyalSun Alliance and Protea Life, and is currently the chairman of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries Health and Care board. 

Paul Tidy will lead the development of GGH’s operational and service capabilities focusing on operations, information systems, transformation, insurance and health regulations and compliance. Paul joins from Bupa Global where he spent 19 years in a variety of roles including Head of Operational Development in the UK and Head of Customer Service Strategy. Before Bupa, Paul worked for Norwich Union (Aviva) and was commissioned in the UK Army.  

Paul Winstanley joins to lead and build the global business development function across Europe, Middle East & Africa and Asia. Having previously been Head of Global Corporate at BUPA Global, Paul comes with a proven track record of intermediated sales to the corporate sector.

Pablo Moreno has been appointed as Group Executive VP Travel Global Business Line since December 1st.

He is member of Sales Board, Travel Steer Co & ExCom and reports directly to Pierre Brigadeau.
 
Pablo joined Europ Assistance Spain in 2005 as the Head of Commercial and Marketing. He previously had an experience in Corporate Banking at Banco de Sabadell Spain before becoming the Head of Client Management at American Express Spain.

Bupa Appoints Simon Blair And Janet Voûte As Board Directors

Bupa announces the appointment of Simon Blair and Janet Voûte to its Board as non-executive directors.

Simon joins the Board following an extensive career in Australia and New Zealand, a key market for Bupa. Most recently, Simon was Group Executive International Financial Services for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Prior to this, his roles included Chief Operating Officer at Australian health insurer, Medibank, Lead Health Specialist for the World Bank, and CEO of Australia’s largest public hospital group. Simon also holds a number of other non-executive positions.

Janet is currently Global Head of Public Affairs at Nestlé SA and Chairman of the Creating Shared Value Council focusing on nutrition, water and rural development. Previously she served as Partnership Advisor at the World Health Organisation in the area of non-communicable diseases and mental health. Janet also spent eight years as the CEO of the World Heart Federation. Her early career was in management consulting including at The Boston Consulting Group and Bain & Company, where her final position was Vice President and Partner.

Lord Leitch, Chairman of Bupa, said, “We are delighted to welcome Simon and Janet to the Board. Their international experience and understanding of the insurance and healthcare sectors complements the skill-set of existing Board members. Aligning Cigna Global iPMI And Employer Businesses In Singapore

Cigna has announced the appointment of Lena Tsia as Country Manager for Cigna Singapore. Reporting to Patrick Graham, CEO, Asia-Pacific, Lena takes the lead in aligning the Cigna Individual (Global IPMI) and Employer businesses (Global Health Benefits) more closely in Singapore.

As described by Graham, "The realignment in Singapore and Asia Pacific will see us move to a "One Cigna" approach, offering our full suite of Group and Individual products and services on a coordinated approach. It will enable us to continue to leverage our global strengths, while at the same time focusing on relevant local solutions for brokers, clients, partners and customers."

In her new role, Lena will have P&L accountability for all the Singapore business, interface with the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and manage all the Singapore operations across both Global Health Benefits and Global IPMI.

Lena Tsia joins Cigna from Prudential Assurance Company Singapore where she was the Senior Vice President & Head of Group Business Department responsible for the repositioning of Prudential's group business to meet the distribution demands. Under her oversight, the business has grown exponentially in terms of number of accounts, revenue and profitability. The distribution channel has diversified to include PACS tied agency, brokers and strategic alliances. She has also successfully re-engineered the operations to enhance the value chain.

She has over 27 years of experience in the industry and has held various roles with AIA, Great Eastern Life and Prudential. She has a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Actuarial Sciences & Statistics from the University of Calgary, Canada and is former Associate of the Society of Actuaries.

Arjan Toor, Managing Director, Global IPMI, comments, "We're excited by the experience and track record Lena brings to the role. Lena is a well-known face in the Singaporean insurance market, and has built a reputation as a highly effective leader and strong supporter of broker and partner relationships from her time at AIA, and latterly Prudential Insurance."

Control Risks Strengthens Its Technology And Information Security Services With Two Key Hires

Control Risks is expanding its technology and information security offerings with the addition of two seasoned experts. Kate Yamashita joins as Managing Director for Cyber Security, and Rith Kem joins the company as Managing Director for Technology.

The addition of Ms. Yamashita highlights the growth of Control Risks’ cyber security service offerings, which include strategic cyber threat intelligence, pre-incident assessment and prevention, and postincident response and remediation. Ms. Yamashita will oversee these services in the Americas region.

Mr. Kem has more than a dozen years of experience in applying technology solutions, helping companies to manage their own technology infrastructures and develop information governance strategies. He comes to Control Risks from FTI Consulting, where his focus included e-discovery, litigation support and data analytics. Mr. Kem’s arrival is the latest indication of Control Risks’ expanding technology services. These services now include e-discovery and litigation support, technology-assisted investigations and forensics, and advanced data analytics that offer strategic insights across complicated and disparate data sets.

“New technologies continue to create new and previously unforeseen risks for businesses,” says Brooks. “Control Risks is continuously enhancing its expertise to ensure that we remain ahead of these new challenges.”
