King Edwards VII’s Hospital Launches State-Of-The-Art Day Surgery Unit

Independent charitable hospital King Edward VII’s has announced the opening of its fourth theatre, a new state-of-the-art facility designed to accommodate day surgeries, endoscopies and more.

The unit increases the hospital’s surgical capacity as well as providing a quicker, more streamlined journey for patients undergoing minor surgical procedures.

Fully equipped with the most up to date equipment and technology, the fourth theatre features four day case ‘pods’ and three recovery bays, minimising the time spent in hospital to recuperate from certain procedures where this is beneficial to the patient.

The new facility will also host the King Edward VII’s Hospital Endoscopy Unit, which  features advanced equipment, allowing the team of specialist gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons and urologists to diagnose health conditions affecting the upper and lower gastro-intestinal tract, bladder, ureters and urethra as well as the male sexual organs.

Professor Huw Thomas, Consultant at King Edward VII’s Hospital, said, “A very high tech unit with extremely helpful staff.”

Kate Farrow, Director of Operations at King Edward VII’s Hospital, added, “King Edward VII’s Hospital is committed to providing the highest quality care in a state-of-the-art setting. The opening of our new theatre, alongside our new pods and recovery space, allows us to streamline and enhance the patient journey for the benefit of our clinicians and patients.”
